Red River Valley REA (Rural Electric Association) is a co-operative in the business of distributing electricity to homes and commercial entities.
Our owners are the 15,000 members who purchase electric power and related products and services from us. As a co-operative, we operate on a not-for-profit basis. But if the co-op finds it has collected more than it needs to run itself, members share the profits (patronage capital). In 2011, for example, the co-op credited back to members’ patronage capital accounts more than a nickel of every dollar collected. Members of the co-operative are the only ones eligible to run for the Board of Directors and vote in elections. We are headquartered in Marietta, OK and have a branch office west of Kingston, OK. From Lake Texoma in the east to near Ryan in the west, to the Arbuckle Mountains in the north and the Red River in the south, our 2,700 miles of electric lines course through parts or all of the Counties of Marshall, Jefferson, Carter, Johnston, and Love.
